The Oscars 2014

You know what happened last night? It was time for my favorite award show, the Oscars, the 86th Academy Awards. Once again the most known Red Carpet was filled with stars from all over to celebrate motion pictures. The big winners of the night were 12 Years A Slave and Gravity. I had been waiting for the actor in a leading role to be announced, and once again I was disappointed, when Leonardo DiCaprio was not awarded. Well don't they say men grow better with age and get better roles, but he already had me at Titanic and has made such amazing roles that would deserve to be awarded. I also loved his enthusiasm and love in the Great Gatsby (2 Academy Awards) even if it ended with sadness. Somehow it still is a feel good-movie for me, the music, the costumes (Oscar winner) and the whole atmosphere. I still haven't read the book, I have it in French so it'll be a bit of a challenge for me. 

There were also two rather different but even more memorable Oscar moments for me. One was U2 performing on stage, that was just legendary. And did you see that group-selfie Ellen posted on Twitter? She literally crashed Twitter with that photo and it's been RT over 2,5 million times. But hey she got what she asked for. Anyways the main event before the gala, the Red Carpet and the dresses and suits. This year nude and classic dark colored dresses were popular once again. There were some true beauties and real hunks. Did you have any favorites? Here are mine. I've learned after following the Oscars for almost 15 years now that Dior never fails. That's why Charlize Theron's Dior Couture dress is once again my absolute favorite (last year Jennifer Lawrence). She just looked stunning in that black Dior dress and a mere 15 million dollars worth of Harry Winston diamonds on her. That's my kinda night, how do you like the dress?

Tiedättekö mitä viime yönä tapahtui? Oli vihdoinkin aika lempigaalalleni, Oscarit jo 86. kertaa. Jälleen kerran maailman tunnetuin punainen matto täyttyi julkkiksista jota tulivat kaikkialta juhlimaan elokuvien taikaa. Illan isoja voittajia olivat 12 Years A Slave ja Gravity. Olin odottanut miespääosan julkistusta, ja jälleen kerran sain pettyä kun Leonardo DiCaprio ei pokannut pystiä. No sitähän sanotaan että miehet kypsyvät iän myötä ja saavat parempia rooleja, mutta olin hänen pauloissaan jo Titanic-aikoina. Siitä roolista hän olisi ehdottomasti ansainnut palkinnon. Pidin myös hänen innokkuudestaan ja rakkaudestaan The Great Gatsby - Kultahattu elokuvassa (2 Oscaria), vaikka se loppuikin surullisesti. Jotenkin se on sellainen hyvänolon-leffa, musiikki, puvustus (Oscar-voittaja) ja koko tausta. En ole vielä lukenut kirjaa sillä minulla on se ranskaksi, joten siitä tulee pienoinen haaste. 

Sain myös kokea kaksi erittäin erilaista, mutta mieleenpainuvaa Oscar-hetkeä. U2 esitys lavalla oli aivan legendaarinen. Ja satuitteko näkemään Ellenin Twitterissä julkaisemaa ryhmä-selfiä? Hän käytännössä räjäytti Twitterin ja kuvaa on uudelleentwiitattu jo yli 2,5 miljoonaa kertaa. Mutta sitähän hän halusi. Päätapahtuma ennen gaalaa oli punainen matto, ja sen pukuloisto. Tänä vuonna nude ja klassisen tummat iltapuvut olivat se juttu. Matolla vilahti todellisia kaunottaria ja komistuksia. Oliko sinulla suosikkeja? Tässä omani. Olen oppinut seurattuani lähes 15 vuotta Oscareita että Dior ei koskaan petä. Siksi myöskin tänä vuonna Charlize Theronin Dior Couture iltapuku on ehdoton suosikkini. Siinä sivussa hänellä on päällään Harry Winstonin timantteja noin 15 miljoonalla dollarilla, siinä ilta minun mieleeni. Mitä tykkäätte puvusta?
