Today I met up for lunch with my friend Hanne who was one of my best friends in high school. We haven't seen each other much since except for some birthday parties and so. And we've tried to get together over the years but there's always something that has come up. So now we both finally got the time to sit down and catch up. The line to Starbucks reached almost outside but I can tell you it runs really fast. The scent when you step in is just wonderful, and I'm not even a coffee person. We got a list in our hands and it didn't take long to decide; caramel hot chocolate times too, size venti. Since the place is still so new it's filled with people who are curious to see what it's all about. So it might be hard to get a table right away, but just be patient.
Tänään tapasin ystäväni Hannen lounaalla. Hän oli yksi parhaista ystävistäni lukiossa. Emme ole nähneet toisiamme paljon sen jälkeen paitsi synttäriijuhlissa ja näin. Olemme myös yrittäneet tavata monesti vuosien aikana mutta aina on tullut jokin este. Joten nyt onneksi molemmilla oli aikaa että pääsimme vaihtamaan kuulumisia. Starbucksin jono ulottui lähes ulos asti mutta voin sanoa että se menee eteenpäin todella nopeasti. Sisään astuessa tuoksu on aivan mahtava, vaikka en kahvi-ihminen olekaan. Saimme listan käteen eikä vienyt kauaa päättää; caramel kaakao kertaa kaksi, suurin koko venti. Koska paikka on vielä uusi siellä on paljon ihmisiä, eikä pöytää välttämättä saa helposti. Kannattaa olla kärsivällinen.
Doesn't the pedestrian street look just wonderful? Even if there's no snow you still get the Christmas feeling. It does get too dark too early so these lights definitely make it a bit brighter. After our lunch we still hung out for a bit and talked about this and that. Hanne is one of the people I really feel I can talk about anything with. Next up is a long weekend and tomorrow is the 96th Independence Day for Finland and the President's Annual Independence Day Ball which, because of the renovation, is not held at the palace in Helsinki this year. Will you be watching? Who will be the queen of the night and who's dress will be a major flop?
Eikö kävelykatu näytäkin ihanalta? Vaikka vielä ei ole lunta tulee silti ihan joulufiilis. Pimeä tulee liian aikaisin ja nämä valot hieman kirkastavat. Lounaan jälkeen jäimme vielä juttelemaan niitä näitä. Hanne on yksi niistä ihmisistä jolle voin puhua kaikesta. Seuraavaksi vuorossa onkin pitkä viikonloppu ja huomenna Suomen 96. Itsenäisyyspäivä. Tiedossa on siis Presidentin Itsenäisyyspäivän Linnan Juhlat, joita remontin takia ei valitettavasti järjestetä linnassa Helsiningissä. Meinaatko seurata juhlaa? Kenestä tulee illan kuningatar ja kenen puku floppaa?
