Monte Carlo Rolex Masters

The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters are here and living on the French Riviera of course you have to attend. It was an early wake-up so we'd catch the train on time. Me, Fanny, Jantine, Jason and Tim went to see a few games that Jason got us tickets for. We bought the tickets a little too late so the Central Court was sold out so we couldn't see the ATP ranking's top names Nadal, Djokovic and Murray (order of play). Unfortunately my favourite and idol Roger Federer (SUI) didn't attend.  We did however get lucky to catch a Finland-Canada game, Jarkko Nieminen vs Milos Raonic, played at Court des Princes. Of course me, Fanny and Jason knew our sides but Jantine and Tim couldn't really decide who to cheer for. The further the match went the more the crowd rooted for Jarkko. And in the end (after three sets) the brave Finn kicked some Canadian butt big time! Sorry all my dear Canadian friends but I just gotta rub it in after all your hockey talk.

Winner! :D

When the first match was finished we decided to walk around a little and explore the ground. I think we were all starving and consumed by the heat so we decided to grab a bite. It felt so nice to sit in the shade and watch Nadal's game, only on tv unfortunately. After freshening up we went back in the sun and sat a while at another game, but noticed that Stanislas Wawrinka's (SUI) game against Albert Montanes (ESP) was already on. Besides Nieminen's game Wawrinka was probably the other top player of the day we could see but the game was pretty obvious and of course he won.

There was another game Raonic attended with his double's partner Bernard Tomic (AUS) and they beat the Polish partners Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski. We took a little pause from the matches and took a look at the shopping tents, they were all over. We could find a place that sold Rolex watches, obviously, clothes, tennis gear etc and even managed to get a glimpse of Novac Djokovic on the Central Court.

When we were about to head for the train station Jason got really lucky; some Latvian guy who rather went to watch his countryman play on the smaller court we just left gave Jason his ticket to the Murray game, the seat was good even. I have to admit that I was a little jealous since tennis is big in my family, both my brothers play and I used to also (more) when I was younger. But then again without him we wouldn't have been there in the first place so thanks Jason!

Thanks all you guys I had a really memorable day and I hope you had too! :)
