Rainy day in Milan

We woke up 6.30am to be able to catch tickets to see DaVinci's Last Supper. A quick breakfast at the hotel and to the center with the tram. We were lucky to get them and while waiting we just walked in the city (in the rain). I hadn't read that much about it so I didn't know what to expect exactly but I was surprised to see that the painting was actually a wall painting, which also made it very fragile. That's why they control very carefully and only a limited amount of people are allowed in the room at a time so the temperature in the room won't rise too high.

After some moments of admiration we headed to the La Scala theatre, which for those of you who didn't know is the most well-known opera house in the world. The façade isn't quite as impressive as Sydney for example but the inside is nice. We got to see the theatre itself and actually some rehearsals with the ballet Giselle with the orchestra, ballerinas and everything. There was also a museum with all kinds of artifacts from different performances, costumes and paintings.

After the museum and a quick lunch it was time to do what Milan is best known for; shopping! We split  up with Kristin for a while so both could get what we wanted. The heavy rain didn't stop me and I just had to head to Via Montenapoleone, Milan's equivalent to Champs-Élysées in Paris. All the stores you could imagine were lined up there. I had to see Prada's flagship store, since it does come from Milan. I can almost say that there is a Prada store on every corner in Milan, everywhere you go you see it. I also stopped by at Gucci and the most wonderful sales assistant made me buy a cute bag. :)

We both wanted to go out and explore Milan's nightlife but the rain made it impossible to go out so we just stayed in at our hotel and watched some tv. Next time I will definitely try Armani Privé club or Just Cavalli, heard they are worth it.

I'm writing this to you from a sunny terrace in Marbella. ;) More about that later...
